We Are Superman

Every city in the United States has suffered from racial and economic segregation for the past 60 years. We Are Superman chronicles the history of this nationwide epidemic by telling the story of Troost Avenue. Troost lies at the heart of hyper segregation in Kansas City, Missouri, drawing a geographic line between black and white and rich and poor. A growing movement unites to transform Troost from a dividing line into a gathering place. On the corner of 31st Street and Troost Avenue, a community of people are battling against prejudicial legislation, exploitative corporations, and a stereotype that has stigmatized the urban core since the suburban revolution. This is the story of their work, their vision, and how they are no longer waiting on a Superman to come and save them.
