Episode One:

The first stop in our series is Castro Marim, in the East of the Algarve. This beautiful course is played by Paul and Chris on their tour of the Southern part of Portugal. Chris and Paul play the fifth hole, a tricky par 5, with danger right of the fairway. Can Chris’ new and improved skills get the better of Paul?  Next up, Chris visits Quinta da Ria, a very popular course about forty-five minutes from Faro airport. At this beautiful course, right by the sea, Chris plays the 12th hole, a par 3. Chris doesn’t travel far to the next course, Pestana Gramacho, where he plays the 10th hole, a par 3. This tranquil place, full of ancient trees and wonderful wildlife, offers Chris a chance to relax and unwind. To conclude the episode, Paul plays the 16th hole, at the world-famous Quinta do Lago South, one of the most prestigious golf courses in all of Portugal.

Episode Two:

Episode Two starts at Salgados in the Algarve, where Chris plays the 7th hole, a par 4. Chris enjoys a wonderful afternoon in the sunshine as he takes on the palm-lined course. Next up is Dom Pedro Old Course, Paul and Chris meet up to play this stunning course. With its wonderful old trees lining the fairways and protecting the greens, Chris and Paul play the tough 4th hole, an enjoyable par 3, where Paul gets a birdie. Chris leaves Paul for the afternoon and heads off to Amendoeira, the Faldo course. He plays the 13th hole, a long par 5, on this prestigious course in the Algarve. Paul ends the episode playing Monte Rei, one of the best golf courses in Portugal, a Jack Nicklaus signature. Can Paul’s game match the surroundings, as he plays the 13th hole, a par 4?

Episode Three:

The episode kicks off at Vale do Lobo, one of the most famous courses in Portugal. Chris and Paul play the 16th hole at the Royal course at Vale do Lobo, which is intimidating because it is set high on the cliffside overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. This prestigious course offers Chris and Paul a fantastic morning of golf. It doesn’t get any easier for Chris as he travels on to Pine Cliffs, where he plays the breath-taking 6th hole, a long Par 3 on the cliff’s edge. This is not for the faint-hearted. Located in a nature reserve, the next stop is Espiche Golf Club in the Algarve, where this stunning course offers Chris a fantastic afternoon of golf. Where every effort has been put in to make this an environmentally and sustainably sound club, Chris plays the 3rd hole at this tranquil new course. Paul finishes the episode at San Lorenzo, where he navigates the 7th hole, a tough par 4 by the estuary. As the sun sets on the day, Paul enjoys a wonderful golf challenge, as he takes in the nature, the bird sanctuary and the gentle waters of the estuary.

Episode Four:

Paul and Chris start off Episode Four at Quinta do Lago Laranjal in the Algarve, the newest of the three courses at Quinta do Lago. The duo play the 18th hole, an interesting risk-reward par 5, by the lake. Chris gets competitive with Paul, but will he succeed? After a wonderful morning, Chris and Paul head north away from the Algarve towards Lisbon, to play Troia. It’s the first course in Portugal that Paul ever played. Paul remembers it well, as they both play one of the toughest courses in the country. They play the incredible 3rd hole, a par 4. Paul leaves Chris in Lisbon and travels to the Lisbon Sports Club, a traditional course, about 30 minutes’ drive from the city. Paul plays the 18th hole, a beautiful par 4, by the meandering stream. Does Paul stay out of the water?

Episode Five:

Episode Five starts near Lisbon, at Penha Longa, in the beautiful Cascais area. This hilltop course offers Paul and Chris, a chance to play the sixth hole, a dogleg par 4. Paul recounts his experiences playing in major competitions including a round with Seve Ballesteros. Chris ventures north of Lisbon airport to Praia D’El Rey, a wonderful wild links course. The area, popular with surfers, is windswept and rugged, where Chris plays the 13th hole, a tricky par 4. Finally, it is off to Estoril, near the beach in Cascais, one of the oldest courses in Portugal. Paul and Chris play the 6th hole, a par 5, an uphill hole beautifully lined by traditional trees. To finish a wonderful day, Paul and Chris have a 007 cocktail in the Spies Bar at the Hotel Estoril in Cascais, famous for being the inspiration for the James Bond novels.

Episode Six:

Episode Six starts off in Aroeira, a course that Paul knows very well from playing the Portuguese Open. At this course, near Lisbon, Paul and Chris play the 14th hole, a par 3 protected by water and framed by stunning pine trees. Staying in the Cascais area, after a bit of lunch at the marina, Chris and Paul travel to the famous Oitavos Dunes. It’s a little windy in the afternoon as the duo take on the par 3, 14th hole. So, Paul offers a few tips playing the wind. After a wonderful time at Oitavos Dunes, Paul offers Chris a unique experience, to play the first ever round at a new course.  It’s called Comporta Dunes and is an hour and a half drive away from Lisbon. It is designed by David McLay Kidd, who has brought a little bit of his magic to Portugal. Chris and Paul play the 13th hole, a par 4 before anyone else in the world.

Episode Seven:

The final episode in the series, starts off in West Cliffs, an hour’s drive north of Lisbon. Chris plays the 18th hole, a par 4, on a misty day at this stunning course, where on a good day you can see the Atlantic Ocean from every single hole. Next up Paul travels to Quinta da Marinha, about a forty minute drive from Lisbon, near Cascais. He plays the third hole, a short par 4. Robert Trent Jones designed it, so you know it won’t disappoint. The third course in this episode is Royal Óbidos, situated on the Portuguese silver coast, north of Lisbon. When the sea mist cleared, Chris was rewarded by playing the stunning third hole, a par 3.  This Seve Ballesteros designed gem is surrounded by water with incredible views of Óbidos Lagoon. To finish the series, Paul and Chris are together again at Quinta do Lago North in the Algarve. They play the 18th hole, a par 5, which Paul helped re-design. Paul is very proud of the finished product, and so he should be, as it is a classic risk-reward hole. Will Paul or Chris get a birdie to finish the series in style?
