Michael was born in Ithaca, New York in 1966. Michael works in a range of media – painting, sculpture, video, installation and drawing. He is one of the most versatile and genre-defying artists working in the USA today. He aims to explore the biggest themes – science, religion, high and low culture, sex, and death. His hybrid practice reflects his own history, born to Korean parents in the USA. A science graduate turned artist. His work has been shown in numerous public and private collections including the Guggenheim, MOMA, Samsung Centre for Art and Culture in Seoul, and the Whitney Museum of American Art.
