Chasing the Giant Croc
Philippines – Agusan Marsh could well be one of the last paradises on earth. Its wetlands stretch over 50,000 hectares and are home to the Manobos, a small fishing tribal community that lives in floating houses. But in those waters lurks a man-eating monster – a giant crocodile over 20 feet long and 1,15 tons! The only way to survive is to track it down.
Catching the largest croc ever turns out to be a godsend for the nearby municipality. Hundreds of visitors come to see it in the huge ecotourism park, which was built for it. Out in the field, Marc Gansuana, a worldwide crocodile expert, tries to see to what extent it’s possible to keep a crocodile like this in captivity, while protecting its well-being.
Will the Philippine government manage to protect the croc? In the meantime, there appears to be another giant croc lurking in the marshes…
