Fukuoka, a region of Japan is situated on the northern shore of the Japanese island of Kyushu. This stunning area is well known for its UNESCO sites, but less well known for its sporting pedigree. Our latest documentary called “Holding the Past, Touching the Future,” explores some of the ways in which the region is known for its sport including rugby, touch rugby, surfing, horseback archery and paddle boarding. And how this passion for sport ties in with Fukuoka’s past as well as its status as the largest tech and start-up city in Japan.
