Grayson Perry was born in Chelmsford, Essex in 1960. He shot to fame in 2003 when he won the prestigious Turner Prize, collecting the award wearing a lilac baby doll dress and red pumps. He is best known for his ceramic vases. They are funny, rude, packed with shocking and unconventional imagery. His hard-hitting, exquisite work – in pots, tapestry, prints, sculptures and drawings – chronicles all aspects of contemporary life. Grayson is a cross-dresser with an alter-ego “Claire”. He is an award-winning TV broadcaster, best-selling author, architect and Trustee of the British Museum. His work has been shown at the Tate and British Museum and galleries around the world.
