Grayson Perry was born in Chelmsford, Essex in 1960. He shot to fame in 2003 when he won the prestigious Turner Prize, collecting the award wearing a lilac baby doll dress and red pumps. He is best known for his ceramic vases. They are funny, rude, packed with shocking and unconventional imagery. His hard-hitting, exquisite work – in pots, tapestry, prints, sculptures and drawings – chronicles all aspects of contemporary life. Grayson is a cross-dresser with an alter-ego “Claire”. He is an award-winning TV broadcaster, best-selling author, architect and Trustee of the British Museum. His work has been shown at the Tate and British Museum and galleries around the world. He lives and works in London.
